The high-level delegation was welcomed and guided around the premises of the Marina by CEO of M.M. Makronisos Marina Ltd, Stavros Caramondanis, who expressed his satisfaction with the progress of construction work, with the port area already delivered and operating commercially since June 1st 2020, serving yachts of up to 85 metres, and providing a high level of service.

“It is a fact,” said Caramondanis, “that despite the global crisis brought on by the pandemic, the Marina has operated smoothly, welcoming over 100 vessels during the June-August 2020 summer period, while indications for the current period seem encouraging. Soon, the commercial area of the Marina will operate on a pilot basis, while at the same time, the construction of the residential area will be completed in phases. Specifically, works related to the construction of the towers are ongoing– with emphasis on the East Tower which is progressing rapidly, while the construction of the 35 luxury villas will soon be complete. Meanwhile, following the recent decision by the Council of Ministers, Ayia Napa Marina joined the ports of restricted use which gives it the opportunity to receive and host large cruise ships, and large yachts (Superyachts) from the coming tourist season. This development is a result of systematic efforts by the Management of Ayia Napa Marina, as well as of the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Yiannis Karousos.”

Expressing his satisfaction with the progress of the works, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Yiannis Karousos emphasized the very important contribution of this iconic project for the economy, estimated at over one billion euros, while also promoting Cyprus tourism internationally. He characterized Ayia Napa Marina as a jewel of the Mediterranean, which will significantly upgrade the district of Famagusta and its tourist product, while generally enhancing the tourist experience.

In turn, the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Savvas Perdios, expressed admiration for the development of the project, and the important progress made, with the final design of the Marina now clear. He also pointed out that Ayia Napa Marina, with its innovative architectural design and quality of services provided, both on land and at sea, significantly enhances the tourism profile of Cyprus, supporting the development efforts of maritime tourism and contributing greatly to attracting high-level tourists throughout the year.

Completing his tour, Caramondanis thanked guests and highlighted the importance of collaboration between the state and private sector, while also emphasizing that Ayia Napa Marina is not just another development project, but a project of life, which will contribute to the rejuvenation of the area, deservedly transforming Ayia Napa into a jewel of the Eastern Mediterranean.
